This student-centric initiative, organized by TechFirm Technology LLC under the patronage of the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC), is set to challenge university students with real-world cybersecurity scenarios, emphasizing practical security operations. The competition comprises multiple stages, culminating in a final event on September 18, 2026, at GISEC Global in Dubai, where five finalist teams will present and defend their solutions before a panel of cybersecurity experts.
Initially, participants will engage in an online qualification round. Successful teams will then tackle a case study that requires analyzing a security situation and crafting an appropriate response. The top five teams, chosen after an expert review, will receive mentoring ahead of the final competition. This year’s program will delve into key areas such as network protection, threat management, system security, and incident response, alongside incorporating artificial intelligence and other cutting-edge technologies.
Circularo’s sponsorship aims to provide students with hands-on experience that complements their academic learning. The company is also planning to enrich the competition with industry insights through classroom engagement and direct interaction with participants. The initiative builds on the success of the inaugural School of Cyber Defence competition at GISEC Global 2025, which drew over 300 applications from UAE universities and saw 130 students participate in the initial qualification rounds.
Open to students aged 17 and above, the competition allows participants to form teams of up to five members, with no prior competition experience necessary. The event offers a prize pool exceeding AED 20,000. Key dates for the competition include the registration deadline on September 3, 2026, the online qualification by September 6, the case study and jury assessment from September 7 to 11, and the announcement of finalists and commencement of mentoring on September 14. The final showdown will occur on September 18, 2026, at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai.
