In a significant financial development, Türkiye’s central bank reserves have seen a substantial increase, estimated to have surged by nearly $40 billion since late June. This marks the reserves’ highest point in approximately five months, reflecting a robust recovery trajectory for the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (CBRT).

As of the week ending August 21, the total reserves are estimated to have grown by $5.3 billion, bringing the figure to approximately $188.8 billion. This is a noticeable rise from the $183.5 billion recorded just a week earlier. The increase highlights a strong upward trend in the reserves, which had previously dipped to around $149.2 billion by June 26 before embarking on this recovery path.

By the close of July, the reserves had already rebounded to $164.4 billion, continuing their ascent through August. The latest estimated figures indicate that the reserves are now about $39.6 billion above the June lows, marking their highest level since March 13. This growth underscores the central bank’s efforts to bolster financial stability and economic resilience.

Official figures for the reserves as of the week ending August 21 are anticipated to be released on Thursday. These upcoming numbers will provide further clarity and confirmation of the current estimates, potentially reinforcing the positive trajectory observed in recent months.
