A presidential summit between the UnitedSstates and the five leaders of Central Asia is scheduled for November 6 in Washington, according to public statements from the leaders of two of the participating nations.

The president of Kazakhstan was the first to announce the planned date, with the president of Kyrgyzstan subsequently confirming his attendance, as reported by local media citing their offices.

Official confirmation from Washington has not yet been issued. Furthermore, the heads of state for Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan have not publicly confirmed if they will participate in the high-level talks.

This summit would be the latest in a series of top-level diplomatic engagements for the Central Asian “Stans.” The leaders have already met with counterparts from the EU, China, and Russia in separate summits this year.

The increased attention from global powers is tied to the region’s vast natural resources and its strategic potential as a trade link, as well as a shifting geopolitical landscape following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
