The Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Ankara, Türkiye’s pioneering institution in renewable energy education, has achieved a significant milestone by reaching the finals of the World’s Best School Prizes. This prestigious international awards program honors schools for their innovative approaches and contributions to society and the environment. Established in 2017, the school is one of only ten finalists in the Environmental Action category, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

Central to the high school’s curriculum is the integration of renewable energy systems, offering students hands-on experience with real-world energy systems and data analysis. The educational programs emphasize reducing carbon emissions, boosting energy efficiency, and endorsing zero-waste practices. Among its notable initiatives is the Energy Detectives Project, which educates middle school students about carbon footprints, energy conservation, and waste reduction. Through this project, students actively monitor energy and water consumption in their schools with the goal of curbing usage.

Beyond its educational endeavors, the school has made significant contributions to disaster relief. Notably, it developed an energy bank designed to supply electricity to temporary shelters in the aftermath of earthquakes. This innovative solution underscores the school’s dedication to using technology for societal benefit, especially in times of crisis.

The school’s collaboration with Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University further enriches its programs by offering practical training and laboratory support. This partnership ensures that students receive a comprehensive education that combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing them for future challenges in the field of renewable energy.

Organized by T4 Education, the World’s Best School Prizes celebrate excellence in schools across five categories. As the international public voting remains open until the end of October, the recognition of Cezeri Green Technology Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School as a finalist underscores its impactful contributions to environmental education and disaster relief efforts.
