Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is set to visit the United Arab Emirates for discussions centered on enhancing regional security amid ongoing conflicts and geopolitical tensions. This visit, marking Fidan’s second trip to the UAE since March, aims to bolster cooperation between the two nations in addressing regional challenges.
The talks will cover critical issues such as the war involving Iran, developments in Gaza and Lebanon, and the essential task of maintaining freedom of navigation through strategic waterways like the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. These discussions are vital for ensuring stability in regional and international trade routes.
Fidan is expected to emphasize the need for increased regional collaboration to manage conflicts and minimize external interventions. The two countries, which have maintained a Strategic Partnership since 2023, are also expected to deliberate on preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Türkiye-UAE High-Level Strategic Council.
Additionally, the discussions will likely address the situation in Gaza, including the progress of the second phase of the peace plan, as well as humanitarian assistance and reconstruction efforts. As founding members of the Board of Peace, Türkiye and the UAE are anticipated to coordinate their activities to support these initiatives.
Efforts to maintain ceasefires in Gaza and Lebanon and to promote regional stability will also be on the agenda. The UAE is Türkiye’s largest trading partner in the Gulf, with bilateral trade reaching $19.346 billion in 2025, underscoring the economic significance of their relationship.
The upcoming talks signify a continued commitment by both nations to collaborate on pressing regional security issues, aiming for a more stable and cooperative Middle Eastern landscape.
