Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has assured that Türkiye’s capital markets remain robust, despite recent turbulence in the investment fund sector. During a Cabinet meeting in Ankara, Erdoğan emphasized that the issue is confined to a specific segment of the fund market and does not threaten the country’s overall financial system.

Authorities have initiated investigations into potential share-price manipulation involving certain thinly traded stocks, which has led to losses and increased pressures on some investment funds. President Erdoğan highlighted that the government is actively managing the liquidation of affected funds and is implementing measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. He affirmed that legal actions would be taken against those responsible for destabilizing the market.

Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Şimşek echoed Erdoğan’s commitment, stating that legal proceedings against the involved parties are ongoing and that strategies to maintain financial stability will continue to be enforced.

As part of the response, Erdoğan is expected to hold further discussions with economic officials and relevant institutions to evaluate the situation and consider additional measures to safeguard the fund market.
