In a significant achievement for its defense sector, Türkiye’s defense and aerospace exports have surpassed $11 billion over a rolling 12-month period for the first time. This milestone reflects the country’s growing influence in the global defense market. In June alone, exports reached $802.8 million, marking a 29.6% increase compared to the same month the previous year. Furthermore, exports for the first half of the year rose by 29.5% year-on-year, totaling $4.67 billion.

Haluk Görgün, the President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB), attributed this growth to the rising international demand for Turkish defense products and the expansion of the nation’s defense manufacturing capabilities. He emphasized that the effectiveness of Turkish defense systems in real-world operations has been pivotal in establishing lasting international partnerships.

Over the last two decades, Türkiye has made significant strides in developing its domestic defense industry, reducing its reliance on foreign military imports. This strategic shift has not only bolstered the country’s self-sufficiency but also positioned it as a formidable player in the global defense export market. Currently, Türkiye exports more than 230 defense products to 185 countries worldwide.

Türkiye’s ambitions are clear, as the country aims to secure a spot among the world’s top 10 defense exporters. The substantial increase in exports and international demand suggests that Türkiye is well on its way to achieving this goal, underscoring its commitment to strengthening its presence in the global defense landscape.
