Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have strengthened their bilateral relationship with a focus on enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, and regional connectivity. This commitment came to light following the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group held in Ankara, attended by the foreign ministers of both nations. The discussions underscored the importance of diplomatic solutions to international conflicts and emphasized the need for collaboration across sectors like education, cultural exchanges, and economic development.
In a concerted effort to bolster economic ties, Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan agreed to support new investment initiatives and create conducive environments for business ventures. Both countries are keen on improving travel, employment, and educational exchanges, aiming to foster stronger people-to-people connections. The talks also highlighted the significance of regional connectivity, with Kyrgyzstan emphasizing the Middle Corridor’s potential as a strategic transport route. By linking the future China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to this corridor, Kyrgyzstan seeks enhanced access to European and Middle Eastern markets via Türkiye.
Amidst these discussions, preparations for future reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were also on the agenda. This reflects the commitment of both nations to deepen their diplomatic ties further. The meeting served as an opportunity to review the progress made in bilateral relations and set the stage for continued collaboration in the coming years.
Security issues, both regional and global, were also pivotal topics during the talks. Both nations reiterated their dedication to resolving disputes through dialogue and diplomacy, adhering to international law. Kyrgyzstan expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s efforts in regional mediation and acknowledged Ankara’s support in securing a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. With this platform, Kyrgyzstan aims to champion the interests of landlocked and mountainous developing countries, as well as small island states, while promoting international dialogue.
