The Turkish National Security Council, led by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, urging all parties to return to diplomatic negotiations. The council cautioned that the continuation of these conflicts could exacerbate regional instability and trigger broader global repercussions. Stressing the importance of dialogue, the council highlighted the need for concerted diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and avert further conflict.
During the meeting, the council also assessed the situation in several other conflict zones, including Syria, Iraq, Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Türkiye reaffirmed its commitment to Syria’s territorial integrity and advocated for enhanced stability in Iraq. In reference to the situations in Gaza and Lebanon, the council called for decisive international intervention to curb the violence and foster regional stability.
On the subject of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the council urged restraint and the establishment of a cease-fire, particularly in light of attacks impacting civilian infrastructure. The council expressed concern over rising tensions in Yemen, noting that these were elevating security risks across the region, and emphasized the necessity of restoring peace and calm.
Türkiye’s National Security Council meeting underscores the country’s broader geopolitical concerns and its advocacy for diplomatic solutions in resolving international conflicts. By calling for dialogue and restraint, Türkiye positions itself as a proponent of stability amid escalating tensions in multiple regions.
